The ever-increasing role of identity-based perceptions and identity-based actions in society necessitates the need to pay attention to the authentic religious capitals in order to create solid and reliable foundations for identity formation. The close and deep connection between the tradition of Amir al-Mu'minan's (AS) rule and the teachings of the Holy Qur'an makes it necessary to analyze and examine the identity formation process in Imam Ali's (As) tradition according to the teachings of the Holy Qur'an. The present qualitative study has attempted to answer the question of what place the Quranic teachings had in the system of religious identity formation in the tradition of Amir al-Mu'minan (AS). Adhering to the conceptual network of the Holy Quran in creating identity in order to make policies based on them, is one of the actions observed in the Imam's tradition. Also, the development of the attitude towards the divine traditions and their application in order to strengthen the religious identity of the society, created another part of the function of the Quranic teachings in the process of identity formation in Imam's (AS) tradition. In discriminating actions, in order to determine the precise boundaries of identity, using different verses to reveal the nature of the enemies was one of the other actions of Imam (As).
