The Samarkand School of Science can be considered as one of the most important scientific centers in the history of science in the Islamic period. This school was the result of the evolution of scientific institutions before it, which started around 812 A.H. with the beginning of the rule of Ulugh Beg in Samarkand. Over time, the remaining books from this period became the reliable scientific sources and were studied in Islamic territories. Among the treatises which can be considered as the educational textbooks of astronomy, Chaghmini's treatise entitled Al-Makhlas Fi Elahiya was the most noted. One of the most important explanations of this treatise was written by Ghazizadeh Rumi in this school. After the reduction of the activities of the scientific environment of Samarkand, some scientists of this region migrated to Anatolia. This played a significant role in the formation of the Ottoman astronomical tradition. By examining Chaghmini's scientific personality, this article seeks to show the influence of this Muslim scientist and his works on astronomy during the Ottoman period. The number of Chaghmini's students and scientific guides in the field of astronomy during the Ottoman period, the establishment of Al-Makhlas as a textbook in Ottoman schools and educational institutions, and the writing of various commentaries on Al-Makhlas, especially in Persian and Turkish languages indicate the extent of the influence of this valuable book.
