The position of different strata throughout Iranian history has varied due to the ups and downs of the ruling social structure and its susceptibility to various factors. In this regard, the aim of the present study is to understand the factors affecting the social status of physicians in the 4th and 5th centuries AH, with emphasis on the status of Avicenna as a renowned physician. This study was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and with reference to library sources, especially the history of the men of letters and sages of the aforementioned centuries. The research findings indicate the role and influence of factors such as the type and manner of social interaction, the type of relationship with the court, the type and quality of medical expertise, the acquisition of paramedical skills and knowledge, fame and acceptance, beliefs, family status, and the general culture of society in determining Avicenna's social status.
