Doctors’ presence in the court for curing the caliph and the courtiers paved the ground for their involvement in power and politics. Examining the quality of the caliphs’ and doctors’ relationships, doctors’ elevated position among the caliphs and the courtiers, their impact on the political arena and their financial positions were among the neglected issues in the events of the first Abbasid era. Based on health communication approach, this article tried to explain the presence of the doctors in the court of the Abbasid caliphs and show how the physicians influenced the caliphs’ political agendas. It also revealed that although doctors were influential in the court, sometimes issued some commands, and gained some positions, they were not free from the harm of the international conflicts. Regardless of their comm::union:: with the Caliph, their political stand has been unstable and dependent on the Caliph’s opinion.
