The current research studies the role of intellectuals of the Qajar period in the construction of national identity within the framework of structuralist theory and psychological nationalism nd it answers this fundamental question: What role did the intellectuals of the Qajar period play in the process of building national identity in the early Pahlavi period? The main hypothesis is that some intellectuals of that time, influenced by European nationalism, by developing cultural and political awareness processes, provided the necessary intellectual grounds for Reza Shah's government to build a "fake national identity" that was not in harmony with the context and content of Iranian Islamic society, based on archaic nationalism as an "incompatible ideology." Psychological nationalism led to political manipulation of people's minds and emotions to identify with the concept of nation with ancient grandiose illusions that conflicted with the religious and religious culture of our country. This research was conducted based on a historical-analytical approach and using library resources.
